💬 1. “Who do you say Jesus is?”
Jesus asked his friends, “Who do you say I am?”
- Family question: If someone asked you who Jesus is, what would you say?
- Follow-up: How can we show in our week that Jesus is more than just someone we know about?
🗺️ 2. Letting God be in charge
Following Jesus means trusting His plans instead of trying to force our own.
- Family question: When is it hard to let someone else be in charge?
- Follow-up: What might it look like to trust God when things don’t go our way?
🙏 3. Praying honestly
We can ask God for anything, but we also trust Him to answer in the best way and at the best time.
- Family question: What is something you’d like to pray about this week?
- Follow-up: How can we remember that God loves us even if His answer is different from what we hoped?

Jesus said, “Take up your cross and follow me.” That means choosing Jesus’ way, even when it costs us something.

Praise, prizes, and achievements can feel good, but they don’t last forever. Jesus offers something much better.
- Family question: What is something that feels exciting for a little while but soon fades?
- Follow-up: What do you think it means to live for Jesus’ “well done”?
🏡 OPTION 2 Family Creative Devotion Guide: Who is the Boss?
Parents’ Tip: Keep this simple! You can do this around the dinner table or right before bed. The goal is to help your kids understand that following Jesus means letting Him lead.
- The Game (Follow the Leader): Play a quick 2-minute game of Follow the Leader in the room. Talk about how easy or hard it is to follow exactly what the leader does.
- The Bible Story: Tell your kids about Peter in Mark 8. Peter loved Jesus and knew He was the King! But when Jesus said something Peter didn’t like, Peter tried to boss Jesus around and tell Him what to do.
- The Big Question: Do we ever try to boss God around? Do we only listen to Him when things are easy, or do we trust Him even when things are tough or don’t go our way?
- The Truth: Read Mark 9:7 together. The Father’s voice from the cloud said: “This is my dearly loved Son. Listen to him.” Following Jesus means we stop trying to write our own script and we listen to Him instead.
- Family Prayer: “Dear Jesus, thank you that you are the wise and loving King. Forgive us for the times we try to be the boss of our own lives. Help us to trust you and follow you this week, even when it’s hard. Amen.”
