Day 1: Choosing the Narrow Path
Reading: Matthew 7:13-14
Devotional: Jesus presents us with a crucial choice – the narrow gate that leads to life or the wide gate that leads to destruction. This decision isn’t just a one-time event, but a daily commitment to follow Christ. Reflect on the areas of your life where you might be tempted to take the “easy way out.” How can you intentionally choose the narrow path today, even when it’s difficult? Remember, the narrow path may be challenging, but it leads to true life in Christ.
Day 2: Bearing Good Fruit
Reading: Matthew 7:15-20
Devotional: Our actions reveal the true nature of our faith. Just as a healthy tree bears good fruit, a life rooted in Christ should produce evidence of His work within us. Take time to examine your life. What kind of “fruit” are you bearing? Are there areas where you need to allow God’s transforming power to work more deeply? Ask the Holy Spirit to cultivate the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in your life.
Day 3: True Discipleship
Reading: Matthew 7:21-23
Devotional: Jesus warns that not everyone who claims to follow Him truly knows Him. Authentic discipleship goes beyond words – it’s about doing the will of the Father. This passage challenges us to ensure our faith is genuine and active. Spend time in honest self-reflection. Are you merely going through religious motions, or is your life marked by obedience and intimacy with Christ? Pray for a deeper, transformative relationship with Jesus that impacts every aspect of your life.
Day 4: The God Who Doesn’t Abandon
Reading: Philippians 1:6, Psalm 121
Devotional: When the path of faith becomes difficult, we can take comfort in knowing that God never abandons what He starts. He is faithful to complete the good work He began in us. Like the Psalmist, we may be tempted to look to other “mountains” for help, but our true aid comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth. What challenges are you facing that tempt you to doubt God’s faithfulness? Meditate on His promises and recommit to trusting Him, knowing He will never forsake you.
Day 5: Living Hope in Christ
Reading: 1 Peter 1:3-5
Devotional: Through Christ’s resurrection, we have been given new birth into a living hope. This hope isn’t wishful thinking, but a confident expectation of the inheritance that awaits us in heaven. It’s a hope that can’t be destroyed, spoiled, or faded. In the face of life’s trials, how can this eternal perspective shape your daily outlook? Allow the assurance of your secure salvation to fuel your courage and perseverance as you walk the narrow path of faith today.
