How the Holy Spirit Develops Faith – 5 Day Devotional

Day 1: Born of the Spirit
Reading: John 3:1-8

Devotional: Nicodemus, a religious leader, came to Jesus seeking understanding. Jesus’ response about being “born again” confused him, as it does many of us. Today, reflect on what it means to be born of the Spirit. This isn’t about human effort or understanding, but about allowing God’s Spirit to transform us from within. How might you open yourself to the Spirit’s regenerating work in your life? Ask God to help you see areas where you’re relying on your own strength rather than His Spirit.

Day 2: The Advocate’s Work
Reading: John 16:7-11

Devotional: Jesus promised to send the Advocate – the Holy Spirit – to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. This conviction isn’t meant to condemn us, but to draw us closer to God. Consider how the Spirit has been working in your life. Have you felt conviction about certain behaviors or attitudes? How has this led you towards God’s righteousness? Thank the Spirit for His gentle yet powerful work in your heart.

Day 3: Regeneration and Renewal
Reading: Titus 3:4-7
Devotiona
l: Paul reminds us that our salvation comes not through our own righteous deeds, but through God’s mercy and the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit. This regeneration is like a spiritual rebirth, changing us from the inside out. Reflect on how your attitudes, character, and mission have changed since coming to faith. Where do you still need the Spirit’s renewing touch? Pray for continued transformation in those areas.

Day 4: Assurance of Adoption
Reading: Romans 8:14-17
Devotional:
The Holy Spirit assures us of our identity as God’s children. We are no longer slaves to fear, but heirs with Christ. How does knowing you’re God’s beloved child change your perspective on life’s challenges? When you feel inadequate or unloved, remember the Spirit’s whisper: “You are mine.” Take a moment to address God as “Abba, Father,” embracing your identity as His child.

Day 5: Spirit of Power, Love, and Self-Discipline
Reading: 2 Timothy 1:7-8
Devotional:
God hasn’t given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-discipline. This enables us to boldly share our faith. Recall a time when you felt afraid to speak about your beliefs. How might embracing the Spirit’s power change your approach? Ask God to fill you afresh with His Spirit, replacing fear with courage. Consider one step you can take today to share God’s love with someone, relying on the Spirit’s strength.
