Day 1: The Suffering Servant
Reading: Isaiah 53:1-12

Devotional: As we begin our journey through Easter in the Old Testament, we start with Isaiah’s powerful prophecy of the suffering servant. This passage, written centuries before Jesus’ birth, paints a vivid picture of the Messiah’s sacrifice. As you read, reflect on the depth of God’s love demonstrated through Christ’s willingness to bear our sins and sorrows. How does this prophecy deepen your understanding of Jesus’ mission? Consider areas in your life where you need healing or forgiveness, and thank God for the wholeness offered through Christ’s suffering. Today, practice gratitude for the redemption made possible by Jesus’ sacrifice.

Day 2: God’s Promises Fulfilled
Reading: Luke 24:13-27

Devotional: The road to Emmaus story reminds us that Jesus is the fulfillment of God’s promises throughout Scripture. As the risen Christ walked with the disciples, He opened their eyes to see how the entire Old Testament pointed to Him. Today, ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes as you read the Bible. Look for Jesus in unexpected places, even in challenging Old Testament passages. How might this perspective change your approach to Scripture? Reflect on a promise from God that you’re waiting to see fulfilled. How can Jesus’ faithfulness in fulfilling prophecy strengthen your faith as you wait?

Day 3: The Passover Lamb
Reading: Exodus 12:1-14, 1 Corinthians 5:7-8

Devotional: The Passover story foreshadows Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice as the Lamb of God. Just as the blood of the lamb protected the Israelites from death, Christ’s blood covers our sins. Meditate on the parallels between the Passover and Jesus’ crucifixion. How does understanding this connection deepen your appreciation for God’s plan of salvation? Consider areas in your life where you need God’s protection or deliverance. Pray for the faith to trust in the power of Christ’s sacrifice to cover every aspect of your life. Today, intentionally “apply the blood of the Lamb” through prayer over your family, home, and circumstances.

Day 4: Resurrection Hope
Reading: Psalm 16:8-11, Acts 2:25-32

Devotional: David’s psalm, later quoted by Peter on Pentecost, speaks of the hope of resurrection. This hope, implied in the Old Testament, finds its fulfillment in Jesus’ victory over death. Reflect on the joy and confidence that comes from serving a living Savior. How does the reality of the resurrection impact your daily life? In what areas do you need to experience resurrection power? Pray for God to breathe new life into situations that seem hopeless. Today, share the hope of the resurrection with someone who needs encouragement.

Day 5: Christ in All of Scripture
Reading: Luke 24:44-49

Devotional: Jesus affirmed that all of Scripture points to Him – from the Law of Moses, to the Prophets, and the Psalms. This truth invites us to seek Christ on every page of the Bible. As you read Scripture, ask yourself: “How does this reveal Jesus?” Consider choosing an Old Testament book and committing to find Christ within its pages. How might this practice transform your Bible reading? Reflect on how seeing Jesus throughout Scripture can deepen your relationship with Him. Today, pray for a renewed passion for God’s Word and the wisdom to see Christ in all of it.
