Orbit 2 week 4 – Part 1 – Jesus values time with friends and opportunity to eat
What activities is it that you really value? That you want to give priority to?
Read Mark 6:30-44
The disciples have just come back from their tiring tour of local towns telling people about Jesus, and Jesus had perhaps just heard about the death of his cousin John the Baptist. So what was it that Jesus valued.
Prayer: After a busy time or a tiring day do you seek out time for Jesus, simply to tell him what has been happening… Pray that this would become a habit of yours
Creative: Enjoy food together chatting about your week….
Tomorrow – we take a further look at this amazing day – when the crowd were desperate to hear more from Jesus.
Orbit 2 week 4 – Part 2 – Like sheep without a shepherd
What are the advantages of having a good shepherd?
Read Mark 6:30-34
Jesus describes the people as like a sheep without a shepherd, so he begins to teach them with many stories. Are you a sheep that is listening to your shepherd? Who has the biggest influence on you?
Prayer: Give thanks to Jesus for being the good shepherd.
Creative: Make a sheep drawing – write on their people you know who don’t know the good shepherd. Use it as a reminder to pray for them.
Orbit 2 week 4 – Part 3 – When 5 + 2 = 5000
Jesus loves mucking up normal maths! Read this passage and think how you would write the sum (remember to include the remainder / leftovers)
Read Mark 6:35-44
Jesus encourages the disciples to bring what they could find, and he made sure it was more than enough. Are there times when you are concerned that all you can offer is not enough? When all Jesus wants is for you to bring what you have.
Prayer: Give thanks to Jesus for doing this miracle and for so often doing so much more that we think is possible..
Creative: Can you make a way of showing this weird maths?
