Read Luke 23:26-34

• Why do you think Jesus could no longer carry the cross?
• What should the women really be weeping about? Jesus is talking about the green tree or wood is this time when he is with them. The dry wood is later when people will be judged for rejecting him.
• But then Jesus speaks his first words from the cross – what amazing words

Prayer – Pray for those you know who have rejected Jesus. And give your own commitment once more to Him, to let him know you are fully with him!

Creative – Make a cross and begin to ‘decorate’ it with the words Jesus says from the cross.

Orbit 34.2 – Criminal and king How do different people react to Jesus? Think of three very different people – how would they react?

Read Luke 23:35-43

• What did the sign on the cross say? Is this accurate? To make it more true, what should it have said?
• What did different people think of Jesus? All but one seemed to mock and hurl insults… Why was he different?
• What did Jesus say to him?

Prayer – Thank Jesus for this incredible offer of eternal life. Think of those you thought of earlier and pray for them

Creative – Continue to ‘decorate’ your cross with the words of Jesus

Read Luke 23:44-49

• What was Jesus’ attitude as he died?
• What was significance of the darkness?
• What about the temple curtain tearing in two?
• Explain the reactions of the people, the centurion, Jesus’ followers?

Prayer – Read the verses again and pray!

Creative – Add the final statement that Luke records to your cross image.
