Orbit Week 27 – When will it end?

Orbit 27.1 – Are we nearly there? I can’t wait any more! So often it is difficult to wait and wait… Jesus had already said he would return to the world – the Pharisees want to know when!

Read Luke 17:20-37

  • What will Jesus’ return be like? V24
  • Will anyone know when?
  • Will people have time to prepare?
  • It will be tough as some go, some are left behind…

Prayer – Thank you Jesus, that one day you will return. Help me to be ready for that day by trusting you. Help me to look forward to that day more than anything else.

Creative – Make another sign – this one saying – “Come, Lord Jesus”

Orbit 27.2 – Jesus often compared how even bad people do good things, to highlight how much more will a good God do marvellous things.

Read Luke 18:1-8

  • What’s Jesus saying in this parable (1-5)
  • If the corrupt judge was willing to give justice – what would God do?
  • But when might this justice be seen? Immediately or perhaps later? v7-9

Prayer – Keep praying, keep p[raying – especially for that friend or situation – keep praying, keep praying…

Creative – See if you can help someone… be imaginative!

Orbit 27.3 – Sometimes Jesus told stories that highlighted how not to follow Pharisees, sometimes he had to correct his followers

Read Luke 18:9-14

  • Who does the Pharisee compare himself to?
  • Does he need anything from God?
  • The Tax collector is different in how many ways?
  • Who does he compare himself to?

Read Luke 18:15-17

  • How do these verses relate to previous ones?
  • Was the tax collector a little bit like a child?

Prayer – What could you pray for based on today’s readings?

Creative – Send something nice to a family you know who have a baby – bless them!
