Orbit Week 18 – The Big Questions

Orbit 18.1 – The good Samaritan is a well known story – perhaps one of the most famous. But today as you read it, look for answers to the question: how do I get eternal life?

Read Luke 10 verses 25-28

  • So how does someone inherit eternal life?
  • Easy to keep these commands fully?

Read Luke 10 verses 29-37

  • Remember samaritans were the worst enemies! – How can I treat them better than myself?
  • What was Jesus teaching him?

Prayer – Thank God that Jesus wants us to do these things – but also forgives us for when we don’t!

Creative – send a message, a cake, a card or an invite to an ‘enemy’

Orbit 18.2 – Our big question for today – what is more important? Burger or curry? No – to worship or to serve?

Read Luke 10 verses 38-42

  • What was Martha most bothered about?
  • What did Mary realise about Jesus?
  • Are some things important – but Jesus should always be the most important!

Prayer – Ask God to help you put Jesus first. Are there specific areas you could change to help this happen?

Creative – Make / draw an Olympic Podium – what comes second and third? Who or what comes first?

Orbit 18.3 – Another big question – how do we make cake? No! How do we pray?

It has been said you can tell how someone is getting on as a follower of Jesus by how much they enjoy praying! Here’s a few sessions on the wonderful gift of prayer!

Read Luke 11 verses 1-4-

  • What is best way to address God?
  • What is first thing to pray for?
  • What else is vital?

Prayer – Pray these words of Jesus – adding in your own prayers – adding in different names and characteristics of God. Naming the people & places where you want God’s kingdom to come. Think who you can forgive and thank God for forgiving you.

Creative – Write out this prayer / decorate it / add extra notes!
