Orbit 14.1 – Bit tough on the pigs! But we see the power of Jesus
Read Luke 8 verses 26-39
- What effect did these demons have on the man?
- What does this miracle show Jesus has authority over?
- How has the man changed?
- How did the locals react? (And yet Jesus told the man to stay amongst these people! And the man obeyed!)
Prayer – Pray for God’s help to obey what you know already and to keep trusting Jesus.
Creative – Have fun with play-do or blu-tac or a paper clip and change it from one thing to another – use the time to thank God that he is changing you
Orbit 14.2 – Jesus shows care for two individuals in the middle of a big crush
Read Luke 8 verses 40-56
- What was surprising about Jesus’ actions?
- What did Jesus say to the woman and to Jairus ?
- What do these miracles show us about Jesus?
- How does it show his care?
Prayer – Thank Jesus for who he is and what he can do. Give him your praise.
Creative – Can you juggle two balls? What about 3 or more? Jesus here juggles two stories – be thankful that Jesus can juggle an infinite number of situations! And know he cares for your situation.
Orbit 14.3 – Having been with Jesus for this time and seen all sorts of miracles and heard all sorts of teaching it is time for the disciples to go out – to put their faith into action!
Read Luke 9 verses 1-9
- What task were they given?
- What attitudes did they need to adopt?
- How did they get on?
- Why did Luke tell us about Herod here? To warn us? To let us know he was interested, to let us know the people didn’t know who Jesus was.
Prayer – Pray for God’s help to understand who Jesus really is and to be prepared to serve him wherever it takes.
Creative – Go a whole week wearing just one shirt! No perhaps not… perhaps draw a shirt and list all the things you know about Jesus on it!
