Orbit 13 – Lessons about faith

Orbit 13.1 – How to have faith and how to use it in everyday life! This is the theme of this week’s passages. Everyone has faith in something – the difference is the focus of their faith…

Read Luke 8 verses 1-15

  • There is now a good crowd following Jesus – was it just the 12?
  • Jesus tells a parable about seeds and faith? In what way is it about faith?
    • How will you hear God’s word?
    • How will you keep it?
    • How will you stick at living God’s way?
    • How will you spread the good news?

Prayer – Talk to God about your answers to the questions above.

Creative – Compare different people’s ears! Make outlines of them – make a mobile? As a reminder to listen to God’s word…

Orbit 13.2 – Jesus wants to teach us to listen to his words

Read Luke 8 verses 16-21

  • In what ways are you a light shining?
  • Are you shining bright for Jesus – or are you covered up – hiding under a bed?
  • Who can be part of Jesus’ family?

Prayer – Help me to shine brightly for you Lord

Creative compare different lights. Can you find a way of measuring how deep the shadow is from different lights? Can you identify one light to remind you to shine brightly!

Orbit 13.2 – It is important to know the person we put our faith in – these next passages (and into next week) will help us to know who Jesus is!

Read Luke 8 verses 22-25

  • How did the disciples react to the storm?
  • How did Jesus?
  • What did they learn about Jesus?

Prayer Pray that your faith will be strong even in storms and tough circumstances.

Creative In the sink or bath – can you create a storm – with big waves – and in the middle of the storm tell Jesus you will always trust him – no matter how big the storm.
