We follow on from Simeon with another older person.
Read Luke 2 verses 36-40
- Luke has discovered something of Anna’ life story – are we good at listening to older people’s life story?
- Any was waiting for something – after 400 years – sometimes we need to wait – how good are you at waiting?
- Jesus grew in height and strength – and in wisdom and God blessed him. In what ways have you grown this year?
Prayer – Be thankful for the older people you know – and pray you will grow in wisdom – and be thankful for all God’s blessing
Creative – Make every effort to talk to older people about some of their life story.
Orbit 5.2
The only event in Jesus’ life between 2 and 30… are you ready? Jesus and his family have made the traditional trip to Jerusalem to celebrate Passover – remembering the time God had rescued the Israelites from Egypt.
Read Luke 2 verses 41-52
- Where had Jesus been for three days? Why hadn’t his parents looked there?
- What didn’t his parents understand?
- Jesus obeys his parents, he grows in wisdom and his mum keeps on thinking upon what has happened… what good habits can you get into?
- Luke tells us again that Jesus is growing in wisdom and strength – what is added this time?
Prayer – talk to God about these things…!
Creative – Make a list of the traditions you have – not just the ones you have known about for a long time, but also the ones that have become traditions as you have done them the last two years. Could you start a new tradition?

The two bumps who jumped have grown up – the first one we meet as an adult is John – he is hanging out in the desert and gaining a following…
Read Luke 3 verses 1-14
- What was John teaching?
- What had Isaiah written, hundred years before, about John?
- Is John nice and pleasant to the jewish people?
- What does he want them to do?
Prayer – Say sorry to God for times when your actions have not matched up to your faith – and pray that you will live in a way that shows you have been forgiven.
Creative – can you use something mouldable… (plasticine, blu tac etc) to make John the person out of a bump? Can you then mould it to help you reflect on how God wants to mould you?
