Day 1: Intimacy with Our Heavenly Father
Reading: Matthew 6:5-15
Devotional: Jesus teaches us to pray “Our Father” – a revolutionary concept that invites us into an intimate relationship with God. Today, reflect on what it means to approach God as your loving Father. How does this change your perception of prayer? Consider areas in your life where you may be keeping God at a distance. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you draw near to God with confidence, knowing that through Christ, you have been given the right to become a child of God (John 1:12). Take time to simply rest in God’s presence, allowing His love to wash over you.
Day 2: The Power of Prayer
Reading: Acts 1:1-14
Devotional: Before launching into ministry, Jesus instructed His disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit’s power. This teaches us that true spiritual influence comes from intimacy with God, not just busy activity. Today, consider areas in your life or ministry where you may be relying on your own strength rather than God’s power. How might your impact change if you prioritized “waiting on God” through prayer? Challenge yourself to spend extra time in prayer today, asking God to fill you afresh with His Spirit and to guide your actions.
Day 3: Hallowing God’s Name
Reading: Psalm 96
Devotional: When we pray “hallowed be Your name,” we’re expressing a desire for God’s character to be revered and showcased in the world. Today’s psalm is a beautiful expression of praising and exalting God’s name. As you read, note the different attributes of God that are praised. How can you “showcase” these attributes of God in your daily life? Consider one specific way you can bring glory to God’s name today, whether through an act of kindness, a word of encouragement, or by sharing your faith with someone.
Day 4: Kingdom Priorities
Reading: Matthew 6:25-34
Devotional: Jesus teaches us to pray “Your kingdom come, Your will be done.” This challenges us to align our priorities with God’s. In today’s reading, Jesus addresses our tendency to worry about earthly needs, encouraging us instead to “seek first His kingdom.” Reflect on your current worries and concerns. How might your perspective shift if you truly prioritized God’s kingdom above all else? Ask God to help you trust Him more fully with your needs and to give you a heart that yearns for His will to be done in your life and in the world.
Day 5: Forgiveness and Grace
Reading: Ephesians 4:25-32
Devotional: The Lord’s Prayer includes asking for forgiveness and committing to forgive others. This reflects the heart of the gospel – we who have been forgiven much are called to extend that same grace to others. Today’s reading challenges us to put away bitterness and to be kind and compassionate. Reflect on any relationships where you’re harboring unforgiveness. How might God be calling you to extend grace? Remember that forgiveness is often a process – ask God for the strength to take a step towards reconciliation today, trusting in His power to heal and restore.
