Day 1: Knowing Who We’re Walking With
Reading: Matthew 14:22-33
Devotional: As we begin this journey, let’s focus on truly knowing Jesus. In the passage, Peter’s ability to step out of the boat came from his relationship with Christ. He recognized Jesus’ voice and trusted Him enough to attempt the impossible. Today, reflect on your own relationship with Jesus. How well do you know His voice? Do you trust Him enough to step out in faith when He calls? Spend time in prayer, asking God to deepen your understanding of who He is and to strengthen your trust in Him. Remember, water-walking faith starts with knowing intimately the One who calls us out onto the waves.
Day 2: Persevering Through Trials
Reading: James 1:2-12
Devotional: Life’s storms can be overwhelming, much like the winds and waves that surrounded Peter. Yet, as James reminds us, these trials can strengthen our faith. Reflect on a recent challenge you’ve faced. How has it tested your faith? How might God be using this difficulty to develop perseverance in you? Ask the Holy Spirit to give you the strength to view your trials as opportunities for growth. Remember, just as Jesus immediately reached out to catch Peter, He is always there to support you in your moments of weakness.
Day 3: The Inside Job of Faith
Reading: Romans 12:1-2
Devotional: True water-walking faith is an inside job. It’s not about outward actions but about the transformation of our minds and hearts. Paul urges us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Today, examine your thought patterns. Are there areas where fear or doubt have taken root? Ask God to help you identify these areas and to begin the process of renewing your mind with His truth. Remember, the journey of faith starts with internal steps before it manifests in external actions.
Day 4: Crying Out to the Lord
Reading: Psalm 34:17-18
Devotional: When Peter began to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” This simple prayer demonstrates the power of turning to God in our moments of desperation. The Psalmist assures us that the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Reflect on times when you’ve felt overwhelmed or sinking. Did you cry out to God? If not, what held you back? Practice being vulnerable with God today, sharing your deepest fears and needs. Remember, calling out to God is not a sign of weakness, but a profound act of faith.
Day 5: Walking in Freedom and Purpose
Reading: Galatians 5:1, 13-15
Devotional: The testimony shared at the end of the message reminds us of the transformative power of faith in Christ. It illustrates how taking that first step of faith can lead to profound change and freedom. Paul encourages us to stand firm in the freedom Christ has given us. Reflect on areas of your life where you need to experience greater freedom. How might stepping out in faith bring about transformation in these areas? Ask God to reveal His purpose for your life and for the courage to walk in the freedom He provides. Remember, every step of faith, no matter how small, can lead to significant change when we walk with Jesus.
