Day 1: The Gift of God’s Presence
Reading: Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18-23
Devotional: Emmanuel – “God with us.” This powerful name of Jesus reminds us that in Him, God has drawn near to humanity. Reflect on the times in your life when you’ve felt God’s presence most strongly. How does knowing that God is always with you change your perspective on daily challenges? Today, practice being aware of God’s presence in every moment, from mundane tasks to significant decisions.
Day 2: Jesus Our Saviour
Reading: Luke 2:8-14; John 3:16-17
Devotional: The name Jesus means “God saves.” The angels announced Jesus as the Savior, bringing good news of great joy. Consider the areas in your life where you need salvation – not just eternally, but from fears, harmful habits, or negative thinking. How does Jesus’ role as Savior speak to these needs? Take time to thank God for His saving grace and ask for His transformative power in specific areas of your life.
Day 3: Christ the King
Reading: Matthew 2:1-12; Revelation 19:11-16
Devotional: The wise men brought gold, fit for a king. Jesus is not just a historical figure or a spiritual teacher – He is the King of Kings. Reflect on what it means to have Jesus as the king of your life. Are there areas where you’re resisting His lordship? How might your priorities and decisions change if you fully embraced Christ’s kingship? Consider one concrete way you can acknowledge Jesus’ authority in your life today.
Day 4: The Fragrance of Christ
Reading: 2 Corinthians 2:14-16; Ephesians 5:1-2
Devotional: The gift of incense symbolizes Jesus’ role as our High Priest, always interceding for us. Paul speaks of Christians as the “aroma of Christ.” How can your life be a sweet fragrance that draws others to God? Reflect on your interactions with others – do they leave people with a positive impression of Christ? Ask God to help you spread the fragrance of His love and grace in your sphere of influence.
Day 5: Suffering and Glory
Reading: Mark 15:21-39; Hebrews 12:1-3
Devotional: Myrrh, used in burial, foreshadowed Jesus’ suffering and death. Yet through His suffering, Jesus brought salvation and glory. Consider the challenges you’re facing. How might God be using these difficulties to refine your character or deepen your faith? Meditate on how Jesus’ suffering gives meaning to our own. Ask for the strength to persevere, keeping your eyes fixed on Jesus, who endured the cross for the joy set before Him.
