Job Description
Cosham Baptist Church are seeking someone to lead the Pastoral support to the congregation of the Church and to lead the Church’s Ministry to the older members of the congregation.
This will be a part -time (20 to 30 hours per week) paid role and for a fixed term (up to 12 months with a possible extension). The role will be reviewed after 3,6 and 9 months.
This post is subject to an Occupational Requirement that the post holder is a committed Christian under Part 1 of Schedule 10 of the Equality Act <a 2010.
Hours will be flexible but core hours will be agreed to enable attendance at some fixed meetings each month, which include a leaders’ meeting and a church service and an older person’s meeting.
Holidays will be pro rata equivalent to 5 weeks + bank holidays a year.
Salary will be negotiable and dependent on experience.
Mileage paid at HMRC advised rates.
The purpose of this role is to lead the church’s pastoral care and older people’s ministry, working alongside the CBC Leadership Team.
The person must be aware of their duty and responsibilities under our church safeguarding processes and procedures and are required to follow relevant national legislation and guidance in relation to safeguarding of adults at risk and children. The postholder will be required to hold a satisfactory enhanced DBS check for work with adults at risk and with children
Person must be or be willing to become a member of Cosham Baptist Church.
Responsibilities of Leadership of Pastoral Care
- To regularly meet with and develop CBC’s Pastoral Coordination Team; to liaise with Life Group leaders regarding Pastoral Care delivered within groups.
- Where appropriate, to meet with and offer encouragement, prayer, and spiritual support to those undergoing challenges (health, emotional, relational).
- Oversee the training, development and support of a team of volunteers to provide the Church’s Pastoral Ministry, especially to older members of the congregation.
- Plan and facilitate opportunities for discipleship and spiritual growth for the members of the congregation.
- Plan and facilitate support for carers within the congregation.
Person Specification
The person appointed will be a Christian in agreement with the ethos, values, and vision of CBC with a clear personal faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord.
A desire to serve God through this local church and accept the authority of the Bible in all matters of life and doctrine.
A passion for sharing the word of God with older people.
Must have a desire to meet with support and pray with those members of the congregation in need.
The person appointed will have an ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a wider team and within a supervised relationship.
Must be prepared to become familiar and agree with the Church’s Safeguarding and GDPR procedures and adhere to the Safeguarding requirements of working with adults at risk and be aware of reporting responsibilities.
Be aware of the need for appropriate boundaries in offering pastoral care.
Desirable to hold a full valid driving licence.
Must have the right to live and work in the UK.
