Orbit 29.1 – Our first event of the week, is a story. Are you sitting comfortably? Well, this isn’t a comfortable story!
Read Luke 19:11-27
- Why did Jesus tell this story? (He will be leaving soon…)
- How did some people feel about the King? How do people feel about Jesus today?
- How did he treat those who had used the money wisely?
- Are you using what God has given you to serve Him?
Prayer – Lord help me to use what you have given me to in the best way.
Creative – Ask someone for a £2 coin – and see if you can make money! (Could you buy ingredients, supplies, resources to make something you could sell?)
Orbit 29.2 – Here’s a better and more well known event! But is this the actions of a king?
Read Luke 19:28-44
- What weird things happened? (v28-36)
- What were the people singing? (v38)
- Why will the rocks cry out?
- In v41-44 why is Jesus crying? (40 years later these things happened and Jerusalem was trashed!
Prayer – Lord help me to see you as King and treat you as my King.
Creative – Do something humble!
Orbit 29.3 – What’s the trickiest question you’ve ever been asked? Or asked someone else? Well today Jesus is asked a tricky question – but first trouble in the temple!
Read Luke 19:45-20:8
- Why was Jesus angry?
- What effect did it have?
- What were the leaders trying to get Jesus to say?
- Doing these things with God’s authority – KILL HIM
- Doing these things with no authority from anyone – LIAR
- What was genius about Jesus’ reply? The religious leaders must have thought…
- If we say John’s authority is from God – then so is Jesus’
- If we say he had no authority – the people will turn against us
Prayer – Thank you Jesus that you have every authority in heaven and earth! You can do all things!
Creative – Ask each other the most tricky questions!
