Day 1: God’s Incomparable Grace
Reading: Ephesians 2:1-7
Devotional: In our natural state, we were spiritually dead due to our sins and transgressions. But God, rich in mercy and abounding in love, made us alive with Christ. It is only by His grace that we have been saved from death to life. As you meditate on these verses, marvel at the incomparable riches of God’s grace lavished upon us. Though we were undeserving, God chose to rescue us and seat us with Christ in the heavenly realms. Spend time thanking God for His amazing grace in your life. Consider how you can extend that same grace to others.
Day 2: Saved by Faith Alone
Reading: Ephesians 2:8-9
Devotional: Our salvation is a gift from God, received by faith alone and not by any works of our own. We cannot earn or merit eternal life – it comes only through trusting in Christ’s finished work on the cross. Reflect on how this truth gives you assurance and peace. Your standing with God does not depend on your performance but on Jesus’ perfection. Rest in the finished work of Christ today. Pray for increased faith to trust God more deeply and to boast only in the cross, not in your own efforts.
Day 3: Created for Good Works
Reading: Ephesians 2:10
Devotional: As believers saved by grace, we are God’s handiwork, his masterpiece, created anew in Christ Jesus for good works. These are not works to earn salvation, but works that flow from a heart transformed by God’s love and grace. Consider what “good works” God has prepared for you to walk in. How can you glorify Him and love others through your time, talents, treasures and testimony? Ask God to show you specific ways you can be His workmanship to bless others.
Day 4: God’s Presence in Suffering
Reading: Psalm 34:17-18
Devotional: In this life, we will face trials, troubles and suffering. But Scripture promises that God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those crushed in spirit. Be encouraged that you are never alone in your pain. Your Heavenly Father sees, cares, and carries you. Pour out your heart to Him, casting all your cares upon Him. Trust that He will use even this difficulty to make you more like Christ. Let God’s presence be your comfort and strength.
Day 5: Returning to Your First Love
Reading: Revelation 2:4-5
Devotional: Over time, our passion for Jesus can fade as other pursuits compete for our devotion. But Christ calls us to return to our first love for Him. Remember the joy of when you first believed. Repent of anything that has taken Christ’s rightful place in your heart. Renew your commitment to loving God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. Fan into flame your devotion to Him through worship, prayer, meditation on Scripture, and obedience. Make knowing and loving Jesus your highest goal.
