Easter Sunday – Jesus: life changer – devotional

Five-Day Bible Reading Plan and Devotional

Day 1: Dying and Rising with Christ
Reading: Romans 6:1-4
Devotional: Begin this journey by reflecting on the concept of baptism as a symbolic act of joining with Christ in His death and resurrection. Consider the old life of sin that you are called to leave behind as you are submerged in the waters of baptism. What does it mean for you to rise up to a new life in Christ? How can you embody this new life in your daily actions?

Question for Reflection:

  • How does understanding baptism as a union with Jesus’ death and resurrection change the way you view your own spiritual walk?

Day 2: Living a Resurrected Life
Reading: Romans 6:5-7
Devotional: The promise of resurrection is not only about life after death; it’s also about a new quality of life now. A life where the chains of sin no longer hold dominion over us. Spend time meditating on the freedom that comes from being united with Christ. Think of areas in your life where you still feel enslaved and ask God to help you experience the freedom He offers.

Question for Reflection:

  • What steps can you take today to live out the truth that you have been freed from sin’s dominion through Christ?

Day 3: The Assurance of New Life
Reading: Romans 6:8-10
Devotional: The sermon highlights the certainty of the new life we have in Jesus. Reflect on the confidence you can have in the promises of God, knowing that Christ’s victory over death is also your victory. How does this assurance affect your perspective on challenges you face? Take some time to thank God for the life He has given you in Jesus.

Question for Reflection:

  • In what practical ways can you demonstrate your trust in the life-giving power of Jesus’ resurrection today?

Day 4: Trusting the Promise Keeper
Reading: Romans 6:11-14
Devotional: Trust is foundational to our faith. Jesus not only promised resurrection, but He also delivered on that promise. Consider the sermon’s emphasis on the trustworthiness of Jesus and His word. How does His faithfulness encourage you to live a life of integrity and trustworthiness? Pray for the strength to be true to your word as Jesus is to His.

Question for Reflection:

  • How can you grow in being a person who keeps their promises, reflecting the trustworthiness of Jesus in your life?

Day 5: The Transformative Power of Faith
Reading: Romans 6:15-23
Devotional: On this final day, reflect on the sermon’s exploration of lives transformed by faith. Think about your own transformation since placing your trust in Jesus. Have you noticed a change in your desires, in what you consider valuable, or in how you treat others? Pray for continued transformation and for the courage to share your story with others.

Question for Reflection:

  • Who can you share your transformation story with this week to encourage them in their own faith journey?

Closing Prayer for the Week:
Heavenly Father, as we journey through the truths of Your word, help us to embrace the death and resurrection of Your Son in our own lives. May the power of the Gospel continue to transform us from the inside out, and may our trust in Your promises be evident to all. Thank you for the assurance of new life in Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
