500 children and women kidnapped in twin attacks in northern Nigeria

More than 280 children have been kidnapped from a primary school and secondary school in Kaduna State, northern Nigeria.

More than 300 students were initially taken, but some were rescued; 100 from the primary school remain held and 187 from the secondary school. Responsibility and motive for the attack are unclear. Since these are government schools, it’s likely that Christian children are among those kidnapped.

It comes just days after it was reported that up to 200 children and women living in a camp for internally displaced people (IDP) in Borno State are feared to have been taken by Boko Haram militants.

Please pray

  • For the safety, wellbeing and imminent release of all those held, and that God’s comfort will surround them and their loved ones
  • For an end to all kidnappings in Nigeria, and for the government and security services to urgently address this growing issue
  • For the protection of schools and IDP camps across Nigeria.
