Day 1: The Heart of Worship
Scripture Reading: Luke 10:38-42
Devotional:
Today, let’s begin our journey by looking at Mary’s choice to sit at Jesus’ feet. Reflect on what it means to choose the “better part” as Jesus described it. In a world full of distractions and duties, how can you prioritize time with the Lord? Consider the areas in your life where you might be too busy for Jesus and think about ways you can create space to listen to Him.
Reflection Question:
How can I create moments in my day to sit at the feet of Jesus and listen to His teachings?
Day 2: Postures of Prayer
Scripture Reading: Psalm 95:6-7
Devotional:
Kneeling is a physical expression of reverence and submission to God. As we read in the Psalms, it’s a posture that recognizes God as our Maker and Shepherd. Today, explore different postures of prayer and what they express about our relationship with God. If possible, try praying on your knees and notice how this posture affects your prayer experience.
Reflection Question:
In what ways do my physical postures during prayer reflect the attitudes of my heart towards God?
Day 3: Hunger for Righteousness
Scripture Reading: Matthew 5:6
Devotional:
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” Jesus promises fulfillment to those who earnestly seek God’s righteousness. Today, reflect on what it means to have a spiritual thirst and how you can seek to satisfy that thirst through a deeper relationship with Jesus.
Reflection Question:
What does it mean for me to hunger and thirst for righteousness in my current spiritual walk?
Day 4: Mourning and Comfort
Scripture Reading: Matthew 5:4
Devotional:
Jesus assures comfort to those who mourn. Reflect on the times when Mary approached Jesus in mourning and how He responded. Consider your own seasons of grief or sadness and how you can bring those to Jesus. How can kneeling in His presence during times of mourning bring you comfort?
Reflection Question:
How can I find comfort in Jesus during my times of mourning or sadness?
Day 5: Extravagant Love
Scripture Reading: John 12:1-8
Devotional:
As we contemplate Mary’s act of anointing Jesus, think about what it means to offer extravagant love and worship to the Lord. Mary gave a costly gift, an act of deep devotion. Reflect on your personal acts of worship. Are there ways you can offer your own “expensive perfume” to Jesus?
Reflection Question:
How can I demonstrate extravagant love and worship to Jesus in my daily life, and how can I do so with a pure heart, regardless of what others may think?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, as we journey through this week, let our hearts be drawn closer to You. Teach us to choose the better part, to kneel in Your presence with a hunger for Your righteousness. In our mourning, remind us of Your comforting embrace, and inspire us to love You extravagantly, just as Mary did. Amen.
Beautiful Devotional!
Kneeling down in the presence of God
Shows God the most High seated in the most Highest place and we acknowledge it by kneeling down humbling ourselves ????
Yes Lord
Teach us to choose the better part, to kneel in Your presence with a hunger for Your righteousness
